Recycled - Upcycled
Secondhand fabrics, sewing workshop off-cuts, leftovers and scraps are the main materials for all products. Tablecloths, used sheets, curtains, upholstery, clothing, jewellery...even when marked or worn out are all redefined into new products.
These materials carry a history, a story which I value deeply. They already had a life, a journey, now to be born again, start a new cycle, as something new and unique.
Handmade - Handcrafted
Creation by hand as in traditional handcrafts, tapping into this spirit, keeping it alive and joyful is an incredible life giving force.
Handcrafted products just carry a different energy and vibration compared to factory made products. A handmade product created and made by a single person from start till end, is a creation of love for the product itself, its quality rises and so its vibration.
Unique - One of a kind
We are all unique as is everything in Nature, and so are all ReLeafined designs. They are celebration to the uniqueness in this world, born in the moment, in the now...and never to be repeated.
How it all started
Breathing to create
Growing up between the fabrics of my mom's sewing workshop in Belgium, I felt the spirit for creating and crafting in my veins and so was inspired to study and work as a fashion designer. After a number of years being confronted with the amount of waste and pollution this industry is leaving behind, as well as the social impact it has on manufacturing countries, I didn’t feel a resonance with the industry anymore and was compelled to say goodbye, in search for a more meaningful way of life, in harmony with nature and away from the sales driven and office life.
Embarking on a 6 year journey of travelling, volunteering and learning new crafts, brought peacefulness. Surrounded by nature in the Andalucian mountains and inspired by her abundance of shapes, colors and scents I felt a desire to create once again. But now in a totally different way, only with respect for Mother Nature, without harming the environment and adding more waste on this planet.
Starting off with some old t-shirts and fabric leftovers, my creative spirit flowed again, producing new pieces, all hand drawn, handmade, reinvented...created in the moment...always different and never repeated.
And so ReLeafined was born with the mission to only make handcrafted and one of a kind designs in a sustainable and eco conscious way.
Future vision
Go all green
The aim is to continue learning and incorporating more traditional and sustainable crafts into ReLeafined creations. I’ve already started experimenting with natural ways of dyeing fabrics and hope to include these soon in the product range.
The second aim is to inspire people to upcycle and recycle through local workshops and creative days.
ReLeafined ultimate vision is to become all green using only renewable energy and creating a closed water system that filters grey water so it can be reused.
